FREQUENT QUESTIONS

  • Corrugated HDPE, sales format STRIPS OF 6 METERS, with the exception of the 2” diameter pipe, which comes in 100-meter rolls as the main format.

    HDPE pipe is lighter than most pipes made from other materials. It floats on water and weighs between 70-90% less than concrete, iron or steel, making it easier to handle and install. This makes it easy to transport and manipulate, obtaining significant savings in labor and equipment requirements.

    The pipe has protection against ultraviolet rays (UV) to minimize the degradation produced by them over time, allowing them to be used outdoors without any additional protection work.     The natural chemicals in the soil do not degrade the material in any way. It is not an electrical conductor so it is not affected by oxidation, corrosion or electrolytic action. It does not allow growth nor is it affected by algae, bacteria or fungi. It does not lose its physical properties at low temperatures, it can be subjected to temperatures as low as -20°C and still retain the physical and mechanical properties that characterize it.

    For the corrugated hdpe pipe in small diameters it is through traditional or watertight couplings. For large diameters, the union system is through the bell integrated into the pipe. For the smooth hdpe pipe, the union is by electrofusion or thermofusion welding.

    Pipe made of virgin High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) resin according to the AASHTO M252 standard. The profile has a corrugated exterior and a smooth interior with great structural resistance, flexibility for transporting it in rolls, and a low coefficient of friction that maximizes flow. Used for conduction of fluids without pressure in applications such as:

  • road drainage
  • agricultural drainage
  • heap leach
  • electrical conduit
    It has a high rigidity to support loads, measured by the parallel plate test of the ASTM D2412 standard.
  • It is resistant to low temperatures (-40°C) and high temperatures 60°C.

    The single wall corrugated hdpe pipe is corrugated outside and inside. The double wall corrugated hdpe pipe, the exterior is corrugated and its interior wall is smooth, has a low coefficient of friction, allowing it to handle large flow capacities with low head loss, improving hydraulic conditions in relation to other materials.

    HDPE pipe is flexible so it can bend and absorb shock loads over a wide range of temperatures. It can be rolled, squashed, bent and curved, as well as lift and directional changes. This allows them to be installed without problems on terrain with obstacles, facilitating the installation work and avoiding the need for accessories, since they can be placed in a serpentine fashion, respecting certain curvature tolerances (minimum radii). The resistance and flexibility of the pipe allows it to absorb overpressures, vibrations and stresses caused by ground movements. They can also be placed in narrow trenches, as the joints can be made outside of them.

    The type of profiling gives it great annular rigidity, which works as a flexible system, supporting vertical loads, transferring most of the load to the surrounding ground. The toughness of the pipe, derived from the physical properties of both the material and the extrusion method, allows it to absorb overpressures, vibrations and stresses caused by ground and unforeseen movements, the pipe can be deformed without permanent damage and without causing adverse effects on the useful life. The resistance to rupture from environmental stresses is very high, ensuring that there is no effect on long-term service if surface scratches no deeper than 1/10th of the thickness are produced during installation. This extreme resistance of HDPE pipes is one of its exceptional characteristics that allows innovation in the design of piping systems.
